Kyle Bosch first to be fined amongst many as NFL reviews heated Bears-Lions game – NFL News
The fallout from the feisty Bears-Lions game last week continues as the National Football League disciplinary committee fined Lions defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch $ 7500 for a hit on Chicago Bears running back Matt Forde. More fines are likely to be announced as the committee continues to review video evidence of events during the Bears physical 37-13 victory over Detroit Lions.
This will be the first of several fines announced by the NFL in the coming hours as a great game was marred by petty hits and a fourth quarter brawl involving players from both teams that led to the ejection of Bears corner back D.J Moore.
The brawl took place early in the fourth quarter when Lions quarter back Matthew Stafford grabbed Bears Corner back D.J Moore by the helmet and slammed him to the ground, Moore got up and immediately retaliated by pouncing on Stafford leading to players from both sides coming to their team mates defence starting a mass fight with officials trying to break up players. D.J Moore was ejected from the field following the incident. Video reviews are likely to lead to fines for those involved in the fight.
The NFL disciplinary committee in its review of the game will sift through each individual incident irrespective if the play was penalized by officials during the game or not.
Lions Rookie Nick Fairley could potentially be fined for hitting Bears quarter back Jay Cutler by ramming his head into the quarter back’s chest. Ndamukong Suh will also likely be given a fine for his hit on Jay Cutler in the second period which led to Cutler’s helmet coming off. Suh was dismissive of the dangerous hit after the game saying
"I like to punish the quarterback," Suh said "I like to punish running backs for them trying to make plays on my defense. Whether it's dirty or aggressive or whatever that may be, we're going to continue to play that way and make sure we stand up and make sure teams don't run over us."
Bears wide receiver got his second fine from the NFL as he played the Bears-Lions encounter with orange cleats on his shoes that were not compatible with the NFL’s uniform policy and will be fined $ 10,000.
