Kyle Busch Motorsports signs Parker Kligerman for 2013 Nationwide Series – NASCAR news
Parker Kligerman will be driving Kyle Busch Motorsports’ No. 54 in the 2013 Nationwide Series. The decision came after Kligerman announced that he will not be taking part in the 2013 Camping World Truck Series.
The official announcement of Kligerman’s contract with KBM (Kyle Busch Motorsports) came on Tuesday. After KBM started its Nationwide program in 2012, with brothers Kyle and Kurt Busch driving the No.54 in 2012 Nationwide season, Kligerman becomes the first
full-time Nationwide driver for the racing team. The other full time driver that KBM have is Joey Coulter who drives in KBM’s Camping World Truck Series campaign. 1 victory, 3 poles, 22 top-10 finishes and an eighth-place finish in owner’s standings were the
statistics 2012 Nationwide campaign of KBM.
It was Kligerman’s performance in the 2012 Camping World Truck Series that persuaded KBM into signing Kligerman as their full-time driver. After being released by Brad Keselowski Racing mid-season, Kligerman went on to racing for Red Horse Racing. Soon after
joining Red Horse Racing, the 22-year-old driver clinched his career first truck race victory racing the No.7 Toyota at Talladega in October. Kligerman finished the season with 1 victory, 2 poles and a 5th drivers’ championship standing.
Kyle Busch, owner of KBM, speaking highly of Parker Kligerman said, “Once Parker got behind the wheel of a Toyota halfway through the season, he proved that he was capable of running up front week in and week out in the Truck Series and comes to us with
a lot of confidence.”
Kligerman started his Nationwide career in 2009. He became the 10th driver in series history to have clinched a pole in the very first Nationwide start. He got this achievement after the race at Kansas Speedway. The Connecticut native 5 top-10 finishes and
1 pole position to his name in his Nationwide career.
Kligerman too is hopeful that racing for KBM will bring a boost to his Nationwide career and he will be able to give better and more solid performances in the upcoming season.
“When you think of Kyle Busch and Kyle Busch Motorsports, you think of an owner and a team that have established a tradition of winning and pride themselves on it, so I feel honoured to be given the chance to come in and continue in that tradition,” Kligerman
said.
Over the past few years, all one needs to get a ride with a NASCAR team is money. As long as one has got money, does not matter if it’s coming from one’s family or sponsor, they are sure to get ride with a NASCAR team. Considering this trend, it is becoming
increasingly difficult for young drivers to compete in NASCAR races based on their racing skills alone. Having said all that, Kligerman seems to have done just that.
