Kyle Busch advances to the Bully Hill Vineyards 200 on the pole – Racing news
Kyle Busch has advanced as the pole sitter for the Friday’s night Bully Hill Vineyards 200 of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, held at the Nashville Superspeedway, on April 22.
Busch, who competes for his own team, the Kyle Busch Motorsport, is placed to start the race from the front row, after beating Austin Dillon on the metre. He ousted Dillon with a fractional margin, to snatch his first Keystone Light Pole award. Busch, driving his No.18 Toyota Tundra truck covered the lap with the best speed of 156.721 mph, edging out Dillon who posted 156.568 mph.
Justin Johnson was placed third in the line-up with 156.532, followed by Nelson Piquet Jr. and Elliott Sadler to complete the top-five. Current points’ leader Johnny Sauter qualified for ninth, while the defending champion of the Truck Series, Todd Bodine qualified for seventh.
The 1.33 mile track has special importance for the KBM driver, as he had captured the pole and converted it into the victory in last year’s race. That win came in his fourth-ever race, which was also significant for him as it was just 30 miles away from the headquarters of his primary sponsor, Dollar General in Goodlettsville, Tenn.
After the qualifying round, Busch said, “The guys at KBM but together a real good Dollar General Toyota and it has been fast since they unloaded it. We were able to capture the pole for this race last year, lead most of the laps and get our first win as a team. I've had a great couple of days participating in events with the folks at Dollar General.”
The No. 18 truck driver is prepared and confident this time, to repeat the performance which he had put up last year.
The American NASCAR driver added, “Hopefully, we can cap things off with a victory in tonight's race.”
Earlier, the ‘Music Man’ dominated both the practice sessions. He was looking unbeatable in the first session riding his Tundra truck, where he posted a speed of 156.552 mph and beat Ron Hornaday and Dillon. Hornaday was second, with a best speed of 156.577 mph, followed by Dillon who came at 156.272 mph.
Busch dominated again in the final practice session at Nashville, where he was a bit better in his pace than the first round. He made his run with a top speed of 156.721 mph, while Dillon again edged out with 156.568 mph. To round-up the top-five racers, Johnson ended on the third position with 156.532 mph, followed by Piquet Jr. with 156.445 mph and Sadler with 156.186 mph.
The KBM driver is just competing for the owners’ championship in the Truck series and his team is currently leading the owners’ standings table. The No.18 truck has been impressive so far, securing two wins and two top-five finishes after competing in all the four races.
