Kyle Busch cruises to victory in the Truck Series race at New Hampshire – NASCAR news
Kyle Busch put in a completely dominating performance as he raced through to first place in the F.W. Webb 175 at New Hampshire.
The victory is Kyle Busch’s second consecutive win at New Hampshire and his sixth of the season. He stands second in the all time truck victories list, second only to Ron Hornaday who has 49 wins.
Busch had pole position at the start and maintained it throughout the race, falling behind just once in the whole race when he went into the pits before Austin Dillon did. He soon regained the lead after 10 laps and did not look back as he left the rest
of the pack chasing in vain.
Busch led 165 of the 175 laps and he was only occasionally challenged by Austin Dillon as no one else even came close.
Austin Dillon will not be too worried about Busch’s dominating performance, as he raced into second place and took the overall leadership in the Camping World Truck series.
Kevin Harvick drove in at third while Ron Hornaday and Johnny Sauter gave their championship chances a boost after finishing fourth and fifth respectively. Matt Crafton finished in 6th place.
James Buescher finished in 7th place and lost his lead at the top to Dillon, who now leads Buescher by 2 points in the series.
Two-time Mexican champion German Quiroga, making his debut in the Camping World Truck Series, finished in 16th place in the race.
Busch was pleased with the way his truck had run throughout the weekend and was hoping for more of the same from his car in the Sprint Cup.
“The feel that I have in the trucks and Nationwide cars is obviously something that works for me. I’ve been able to win in both of those pretty regularly here,” said Busch. ”Just a matter of getting that feel in the Cup car and making it last for a long
time throughout the race. I’m hoping that we got something good.”
Austin Dillon was understandably pleased with the result and while he wanted to win the race, he admitted that he was looking at the bigger picture and the Championship points were playing at the back of his mind.
“I lost a little time getting onto pit road, and that hurt us,” Dillon said. “But we came out leading the points with six [races] to go. We'll focus on that, and we're happy with this finish.”
Austin now leads the points table with 661 points followed by James Buescher with 659. Johnny Sauter is in 3rd place with 654 points. The next Camping World Truck Series race is the Kentucky 225 at Kentucky Speedway in Sparta on
October 1, 2011.
