Kyle Busch looking to continue his impressive run at Dover International Speedway – NASCAR news
Kyle Busch will be looking at the AAA 400 at the Dover International Speedway as the track where he makes a strong statement in his push for the 2011 Sprint Cup.
Kyle Busch started the Chase as the joint leader along with Kevin Harvick. A 22nd place finish in Chicagoland dropped him down to 9th in the standings and his chances of winning this year were written down by most. However, an 11th place finish at Loudon,
a track where he does not do well, has put him right back in contention and has moved him up to 6th place in the standings.
Busch currently trails leader Tony Stewart by 26 points but with a good record at Dover, he will be looking to make up further ground in the Chase.
Busch has won two Sprint Cup wins, three Nationwide Series wins and three truck Series wins at Dover.
Busch is looking forward to the race at Dover and believes that he has experience on his side, having driven at the track in all three-race formats.
“I love that place. It’s fun to race there and it’s a place that I’m looking forward to going to with our Interstate Batteries Camry,” said Busch. “For me, just getting to race there in the Trucks and the Nationwide cars and the Sprint Cup cars – to me,
it gives me a little more experience on the racetrack.”
Busch was not too intent on changing a lot of things in his race strategy and was going to continue with his tried and tested strategy. He just wants to run as strong as he can in each race and leave the results to sort themselves out.
Speaking about the previous two races, Busch said that the fuel mileage situation is something which is very hard to predict because it is dependent on a lot of others factors as well.
He said, “It’s just a matter of what your strategy has been all day and when you’ve been on pit road and what kind of tires you’ve been taking – whether it’s been two or whether it’s been four. It doesn’t necessarily just play into fuel strategy.”
With things seemingly turning for Busch, he will be looking for a strong finish at Dover to put him right in the mix for the Sprint Cup Championship.
