Kyle Busch looking to end dismal run at Kansas Speedway – NASCAR news
Kyle Busch will be looking to put in a strong performance in the Hollywood Casino 400 at the Kansas Speedway to make a comeback into the Chase race.
Busch started the Chase at the top of the points table but now lies in 8th position after three unimpressive performances. He finished 22nd in Chicagoland followed by 11th in New Hampshire.
He finished 6th in Dover which has helped him recover slightly but he still has a long way to go.
Busch does not have the best of records at Kansas. He has only 1 top10 finish in 7 starts to his name, 7th place way back in 2006. He finished 12th in the race here earlier in the ongoing 2011 season.
Busch is aware of his record at Kansas and is not too worried about the situation.
“It’s just a matter of trying to figure it out. Once you kind of get it figured out or get the right situations kind of lined up, you can have a shot,” he said.
Busch has Michigan to point too as an example, where he has struggled in recent years. However, he surprised everyone by winning the Pure Michigan 400 at the Michigan International Speedway earlier this season. He will be hoping for more of the same in Kansas
this time around.
The Kansas race has usually been decided by the fuel-mileage of the car and Busch knows that he will have to manage that aspect of his driving if he is to stand a chance in the race. Busch said that most drivers found that hard to do because it just was
not in their nature to back off.
He said, “You want to race those guys who are around you all of the time. You want to go, ‘Uh, there’s a car in front of me. I want to pass that guy.’ That’s what’s in your blood to do. Sometimes you’ve just got to back off a little bit and kind of let the
race play out.”
The qualifying for the race is set to be on Saturday, October 8, 2011 with the race scheduled a day later on Sunday, 9 October.
