Kyle Busch looks for first win at Charlotte – NASCAR news
Kyle Busch will be looking for his first Cup win at Charlotte as the Chase for the Sprint Cup moves on to the Bank of America 500 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway on Saturday, October 15, 2011.
Kyle Busch claims that Charlotte is his favourite track and he has a very solid record at the track despite not having won a chase race at the track yet. Busch has eight top-10 finishes in the last 10 races at the track in the Sprint Cup. In addition to
that, Busch has 6 wins on the track in the Nationwide Series and 4 wins in the Camping World Truck Series.
Busch said that it will be very special for him to finally secure a win on his favourite track.
“Winning at Charlotte Motor Speedway, since it is my favourite track, would be really special since I’ve been able to win there in other series and have been close a lot in the Cup car,” said Busch. “There are plenty of other tracks that we need to win at
too but there’s no doubt it would be big.”
Busch is currently 8th in the table, 20 points behind leader Carl Edwards. Busch knows that it is very important for them to be running well in the last 6 races and be competitive until the end.
Busch felt that the team had done well in both Chicago and Kansas but things did not turn out in their favour and their current position in the table is not an indication of how they have run so far in the Chase.
“These races are 400, 500 miles in length for a reason. There’s a lot that can go down during that time,” said Busch. “Certainly, we’ve not been as high as we want to be, yet, but that’s not indicative to how we’ve run.”
Busch accepted the fact that there was a lot of pressure on all the drivers who ran and each driver wanted to win races. The sport had become very competitive because a lot depended on the performances of the drivers on the track and the drivers had to learn
to deal with the pressure.
