Kyle Busch take pole position for All-Star Race on Saturday – NASCAR news
Kyle Busch has taken the pole position for the Sprint All-Star Race on Saturday.
Busch was one of the 18 riders who attempted in the qualifying and he outperformed Clint Bowyer for the top position of the event being held at the Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Busch has completed the first step towards the million-dollar paycheque for a single day and needs to win the race, which he has failed to do so in his five attempts.
The unique All-Star Race qualifying format consists of three laps and a four-tyre change pit stop. Kyle Busch was successful in completing the session in 1:59.191 with average speed of 135.916mph, leaving behind Clint Bowyer with 135.377mph. Greg Biffle
was close but came third with an average speed of 134.740mph.
Carl Edwards is seated at fourth place to start, followed by Mark Martin aboard no. 25 Chevrolet of Hendrick Motorsports for this weekend. Jimmie Johnson, who secured 11th place in qualifying for the All-Star Race, will pilot the no. 5 Chevrolet
for the promotion of the sponsor, Lowe’s.
Tony Stewart, Kasey Kahne, Juan Montoya, Jamie McMurray and Ryan Newman complete the top ten positions after Mark Martin in fifth.
Kyle Busch agrees that the non-points format is a big favour for him. In the past, he has bagged four ‘did not finish’ statuses out of five event starts.
Busch said, “This race is a race where everybody says it suits Kyle Busch, and we all know why. It's because you can go fast, balls to the wall, and you either bring back the steering wheel or the check. Unfortunately, I've been highly successful at bringing
back the steering wheel. Unfortunately, I have not brought back the check, so hopefully we can do that here [Saturday].”
On the other side, David Ragan won the pole position of the Sprint Showdown. It will take place before the All-Star Race, leaving the fellow Ford driver A.J. Allmendinger in second place to start the race. Trevor Bayne will miss the Sprint All-Star Race
including the Nationwide Series race at Iowa Speedway.
