Kyle Busch takes his second truck victory of 2011 at Bull Hill Vineyards 200 – NASCAR news
Kyle Busch was not expecting to work harder to grab a victory on Friday, but his struggle made him the winner of the Bully Hill Vineyards 200 at Nashville Superspeedway.
Ron Hornaday Jr. was disappointed after the race, but with eight laps on the countdown, he made things more interesting when he made a clean pass on Kyle Busch, just after the restart hit. There was another caution dropped on the track and Kyle Busch struggled
to hit back for the lead. With three laps on the countdown, he slipped ahead from Hornaday’s left side to complete his second victory in a row at the Nashville Superspeedway.
“I felt like we had a dominant truck, there with about 10 to go, the race really got started and got really interesting.” Busch stated after the race on Friday night.
The last few laps presented an entertaining situation between Busch and Hornaday. Busch led the grid after the green flag was dropped, but Hornaday made an intrepid move just a lap after the restart and crossed Busch to take the lead.
“Hornaday got a good restart and put enough drag on my spoiler that he kind of slowed me down on the front-stretch and stayed alongside me,” Busch said. “I cleared him through [turns] 1 and 2 and pulled up in front of him, but he had a little bit of momentum
on me and pulled back to my inside down the backstretch and made a bold move driving it so far into the corner.”
Hornaday had his truck go into a little slide through corner 3, and then both moved up the grid to lead the truck fleet on the track.
The last caution of the night dropped giving an unseen chance in favour of Busch and with a last restart of the event Busch played the same trick with Hornaday, where he felt lucky to get the advantage from the position behind the race leader and came out
as a winner of the night. Busch claimed it would have been a great disappointment if the team lost at Nashville.
Kyle Busch led 140 out of 150 laps, and crossed his lap lead number to 20,000 in total at the Sprint Cup Series, Nationwide Series and World Camping Truck Series.
In the two starts at Nashville, Busch has scored two victories and two pole positions by leading for 271 out of 300 laps in total of the two races. This victory counted his second of the series this season and 26th in
the WCTS career.
Now Busch is at the fourth place on the all-time victory list led by Hornaday with 47 victories, and two wins behind Mike Skinner and Jack Sprague, both tied at second place on the list.
