Kyle Busch to race old style at Michigan International Speedway – NASCAR news
Joe Gibbs Racing driver car no. 18 pilot Kyle Busch is going to be the same racer at Michigan after completing his four-week probation period and suffering a six-point penalty in the NASCAR championship standings.
He will be seen racing in old style at Sprint Cup Series race, Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips 400 on Sunday.
Busch said, “We've talked a little bit this week and they found out what the problems were. It was in the front springs so we'll see if we can't get with the manufacturer and figure out how we can make heat not be an issue.”
Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick were penalised with a fine and a four-week probation since the Darlington event which finished after the recently held round in Pocono. The JGR team driver Kyle Busch again faced an issue which was caused by his no. 18 Toyota
Camry.
The car was inspected during a post-race inspection and was found to be lower than the mandatory limit allowed by NASCAR rules.
The case was noticed and the team was given a points’ penalty while Busch was also given the same penalty. Although he was penalised but it did not affect his championship standings. He remains at fifth place in the 2011 NASCAR season points table led by
Carl Edwards.
Busch said, “It doesn't matter whether you feel like [the penalty] does or doesn't [fit the crime]. It was something that we had wrong and we did not fit within the rules after the race. Certainly there needs to be something done to that. Joe Gibbs Racing
issued a statement earlier this week that we accept the penalty and we'll move forward.”
Busch will be racing 250 miles on Saturday and another 400 miles on Sunday. He said that his racing style will remain the same this weekend and throughout the season ahead.
Let’s see how he fares at the upcoming event set to take place this weekend on Sunday, June 19, 2011.
