Kyle Clements joins as a permanent head coach for Wisconsin-Milwaukee – Swimming News
University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s Director of Athletics, Rick Costello, has announced yesterday, on May 7, that Kyle Clements will perform his duties as a head swimming and diving coach at the institution.
Clements worked as an interim coach in the last season, helping the swimmers to achieve the best results in the Horizon League Championships. He was also appointed as the ‘League Coach of the Year’, for the Men’s swimming and diving team.
Costello, said, “Kyle directed both the men's and women's teams to great success this past season and has proven to be an excellent leader for our student-athletes. He has played a big role in building the program to a championship level both as an assistant
coach and as the interim head coach and has earned this opportunity.”
He further added that Clements is a very professional, dedicated and self-motivated person, who knows better how to push his swimmers and divers to excellence, in the classrooms and in the pool.
Clements worked as an assistant coach for Milwaukee for three years. He led the Panther swimming and diving team to achieve their first league crown in ten years, as an assistant coach in 2010.
Clements, while speaking about his new role, said, “I am very excited about our program moving forward. There has been a lot of hard work put in by two staffs over the last three years to get us where we are today and I am even more excited about the future.”
He said that it is a privilege for him to be appointed as a swimming and diving head coach for Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Clements added that he will look gently on the accomplishments he has had until now and will eye many more laurels, in the upcoming competitive
swimming and diving events.
Furthermore, Clements said that they have a team of great individuals and athletes who can definitely create a spark in any type of championship. Clements stated that he truly feels honoured to be given the new role and does not have a desire to be a part
of any other swimming and diving team in the world, beside this team.
Clements has come to Milwaukee from Marshall University. He worked as a volunteer assistant swimming and diving coach for the institution, during the last two seasons.
He took his undergraduate degree in aquatics from Ball State, during the period of 2007. He also worked as a student assistant swimming and diving coach for the Ball State, for a consecutive four years. Milwaukee will be keen to avail the exciting opportunity
right away and win more, with the guidance of their new coach.
