Kyle Hunter, Joseph Rogers make into Men’s Doubles pre quarter-finals – Canada Open Update
Men’s Doubles team of Kyle Hunter-Joseph Rogers smacked Brad Mear-Jason Wong down in the opening match and marched into pre quarter-finals of Yonex Canada Open on July 11, 2012.
This first round encounter was held at local badminton arena of Richmond, Canada and both compatriot pairs took just 19 minutes to place final figures of 21-17 and 21-15.
Though, Kyle and Joseph wrapped the show in just two games but still they had to put up an extra effort to oust their opponents.
Meanwhile, the losing team had to face a woeful exit despite a venerable fight in both segments of the match.
The duo is now scheduled to meet another local pair, Derrick Ng-Toby Ng and if they continue their winning streak then a seat will be reserved for them in the quarter-final round of this Grand Prix tournament.
Kyle and Joseph are confident to repeat their performance of the opening match where they sealed a straight-set victory in a fabulous manner.
They took some time to read their rivals’ game in the beginning of the first set and remained at the lower end until 3-8 total.
However, this was a temporary fall as they rose from the dust by hammering their challengers in eight consecutive rallies.
This unbeatable campaign took them to a dominating position of 11-8 before the interval and they relished this initial advantage in the second half of the set.
The twosome of Brad-Jason made every effort to reinstate their dominance but they failed to hit the mark.
They kept trailing behind all the way to game point situation and finally gave up this futile chase after reading 17-21 score on the board.
Kyle and Joseph started the second set with great conviction and transformed this 1-0 lead into a straight-set win.
They again proved themselves late bloomers and established the upper hand despite going down in opening rallies.
They ended the first half of the set with 11-8 margin but doubled this gap by snatching six continuous points immediately after the break.
The opposing team made swift progress to 14-17 and strived hard to catch them but Kyle-Joseph survived this battle after putting up a decisive figure of 21-15.
