Kyle Korver erupts with 20 points as Chicago Bulls edge out Indiana Pacers 92-87 – NBA Recap
On Wednesday night at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse, Indianapolis, IN, the visiting Chicago Bulls defeated their Eastern Conference rivals, Indiana Pacers with a score line of 92-87. With the win, the Bulls continued their resurgent
charge towards the best record in the league.
Kyle Korver was the standout player on the night, leading the Bulls charge with 20 points. This was the 15th time this season; Bulls were able to put their actual starting line up on the court.
Three starters managed to finish the game, scoring in double figure. Carlos Boozer scored 16 points, Joakim Noah 14 points while Derrick Rose cautiously managed to pile up 10.
However the tandem backcourt of Rose and Richard Hamilton was rather unimpressive on the night, both of them combined to shoot 5-21 in the game with Hamilton managing only 4 points in the game.
Lance Stephenson led the scoring for the Pacers racking up 22 points in the game. Two other players from Indiana finished the game with double-figure with David West getting 13 and A.J. Price coming off the bench to score 10 points
in the game.
The number one team in rebounding lived up to their reputation, out-rebounding the Pacers 44-34 in the game.
Chicago came out of the blocks racing in this one, starting the game off on a 7-2 run. However the home side who seemed bamboozled by the number one team in the conference did manage to settle in well. By the 5:58 mark, they were
able to chip the lead down to 1.
But the resurgent Bulls were looking to get their chemistry going and responded back with an 8-0 run. By the end of the opening period, courtesy of a Watson three pointer, the scores were 32-24 in Bulls favour.
Korver led the Bulls charge in the second quarter by contributing 9 points in that frame to help Chicago get their advantage into double figures.
The most significant factor in that period was the defensive intensity from the Bulls side. They only allowed the Pacers to manage only 5 field goals in the entire quarter and by the end of the first half, Bulls were ahead with
a score of 49-36.
At the start of the third quarter, Pacers did try to rally their way back into the game courtesy of a 14-8 run to start the period, cutting he advantage down to single digits.
In the remaining time of the period, Bulls who were extremely useful of their trip to the offensive end and were able to get their advantage back to double figures, however by the end of three quarter, they were ahead by 8.
The action went end to end in the fourth quarter but the Bulls advantage remained in double figures and the minimum it got at one point was 7. At the 1:08 mark, Chicago found themselves ahead by 12 points. In the final minute of
the game, Pacers managed to go on a 7-0 run but it turned out to be too late as the Bulls held on in this one by a difference of 5 points.
