Kyle Lohse tipped to prevail in NLCS Game 4 – MLB Update
With Kyle Lohse scheduled to start, the St. Louis Cardinals will be hopeful of prevailing in Game 4 of the National League Championship Series against Milwaukee Brewers scheduled for Thursday, October 13 at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, Missouri.
The Cardinals won Game 3 with Chris Carpenter’s help and with this game to be played on home as well, they have a good chance of testing the opposition’s strength on road fixtures. A victory at this stage will be decisive for the Cardinals and will give
them a 3-1 advantage in the seven-game series.
Lohse will start for the first time after the opening game of the NL Division Series against the Philadelphia Phillies. Although Lohse leaked five runs in his spell of 5.1 innings to lose the game, the starter is confident of prevailing against an offensive
powerhouse.
An extended delay will not affect Lohse, given the fact that he was accustomed to such delays in the regular season as well. After his last extended rest, Lohse hurled six dominant innings against the Brewers at home. This time, the starting pitcher will
have something similar in mind.
In his last three starts at Busch Stadium, Lohse has prevailed in two and managed one no-decision at a 1.50 ERA.
The Brewers have not won a single game on the road thus far in the postseason and chances of this trend being countered are on the lower side.
Milwaukee will counteract with Randy Wolf, who has enjoyed a successful run at Busch Stadium but has failed to perform in the playoffs so far this year. His last start came against the Arizona Diamondbacks on October 5, where he allowed seven runs from just
three innings to see his team go down 6-10 against the D-backs.
Nevertheless, Wolf has impressed at Busch Stadium and will aim to replicate the outcome of his last two starts. Brewers’ starter is 2-0 in as many chances at this ballpark at a 1.13 ERA. However, if his lacklustre form continues, Milwaukee’s manager Ron
Roenicke might not show patience. Roenicke emphasised that the Cardinals are a strong unit and cannot be dealt with lightly.
With conditions favouring the pitchers, Lohse is tipped to prevail in the encounter.
