Kyle Mills fears a Zimbabwean comeback - Cricket News Update
The New Zealand fast bowler, Kyle Mills has urged his side against complacency when they meet the lowly ranked Zimbabwean side for the second One Day International of the ongoing home one-day series starting in Whangarei on Monday,
February 6, 2012.
The Kiwis beat the tourists comprehensively in the one off Test and the opening ODI of the three-match series. Zimbabwe lost the only Test at Napier by an innings and 301 runs before losing the first One Day International of the
three-match series by 90 runs.
But Mills has thrown caution to the wind after the wins, saying that the Zimbabweans would be better acclimatised with the seam friendly conditions on offer and might make a strong comeback by playing competitive cricket in the
ensuing games.
"There's no doubt they are going to come back a lot better, harder and stronger in Whangarei," said http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 daily on Sunday.
"That's the general theme in most series around the world. The waters are tested in the first game but as the series progresses, both teams get a better read on each other and what they're trying to do and get a better understanding
of individual strengths and weaknesses," he added further.
Compared to their capitulating performance at Napier, which saw them being rolled over twice on a day, the visitors performed marginally better in the one-day series opener at Dunedin where they not only restricted a formidable
New Zealand line up to 248 runs, but also managed to counter the home attack and went on to score 158 runs.
The visiting skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KD-Mills-c1781 is expecting few more painstaking individual innings from the Zimbabweans in the remaining games.
A victory at Whangarei will give the hosts an invincible lead in the series, and Mills urged the side to be at its best to make sure that they win the series.
"It's a must-win game for them and they did that up in the series in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045 as well - they progressively got better," said Mills. "It's really important we stay on our game in Whangarei because there's no doubt they will be a
lot stronger and mentally prepared for it," he added further.
The three-match series will be followed by two T20 internationals.
