Kyle Naughton to leave Tottenham Hotspur due to lack of first team opportunities
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kyle-Naughton-c21563, the Tottenham Hotspur defender on loan to Norwich City, revealed he was considering parting ways with the London side. The reason for him considering a move away was to develop his international career and secure a spot in the starting XI.
Naughton joined the Spurs in the summer of 2009 from Sheffield United at around the same time as friend http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kyle-Walker-c21566. While Walker has had no trouble breaking into first team action at Tottenham Hotspur after a successful loan spell at Aston Villa, Naughton
is on his third loan spell.
Naughton said while speaking to reporters:
“Kyle and I became close pals at the Sheffield United Academy and our families go back even further.”
After spending time with Middlesbrough, Leicester City, Naughton finds himself at Norwich City, with no indication of when he will get his chance at White Hart Lane. It was for this reason the youngster was considering his long term future.
The comparison with Walker was another factor which had Naughton convinced he was not being treated fairly by his host club. While Naughton believed Walker deserved every bit of what he was getting, the 23-year-old right back felt he also deserved a bit
more.
He continued:
“So it's a bit ironic that he's now effectively standing in my way at Tottenham. I don't begrudge him his place one bit because he's playing really well and I can have no complaints.
But I may have to assess things at the end of the season because, first and foremost, I want to be playing Premier League football.”
After being a success with the England under-21 international squad, Naughton wishes to graduate to the senior squad as his friend Walker has done. However, he knows for that he has to secure regular club football, something he has been unable to do as yet.
Naughton revealed:
“I still have ambitions of following Kyle into the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 squad after playing for the Under-21s and I need to be a regular in the Premier League to do that.”
Naughton hinted that since he preferred to stay in the English Premier League, he could just switch clubs.
