Kyle Owens captures Men’s 100m back-stroke crown: Day two – 2011 USA Swimming Sectionals
Day two of the USA Swimming Sectionals witnessed the impressive performance of AUB’s Kyle Owens in Athens, Georgia, USA, on Friday, July 15. Kyle finished the session of the meet with her stunning effort in the Men’s 100m back-stroke A Final.
He secured the title by finishing the distance in a winning time of 54.20 seconds. Meanwhile, his team-mate, Kohlton Norys earned the second spot in 55.58 seconds and Max Murphy finished third in 56.22 seconds. Preston Jenkins grabbed fourth place in 57.13
seconds, while Chris Dart was placed fifth in a time of 57.71 seconds. AUB’s Brandon Siemasko surprisingly finished eighth in 58.55 seconds.
In the Men’s 100m back-stroke B Final, SwimMAC Carolina’s Kevin Darmody earned first place honours in 57.76 seconds. Michael Baric of Seahawk Aquatics wound up second in 58.59 seconds, whereas, Michael Arnold of Gold settled third in a time of 58.89 seconds.
Matthew Josa finished fourth in 59.29 seconds and Jay Litherland was placed fifth in a time of 59.60 seconds.
ABSC’s Mark Dylla snared the Men’s 100m back-stroke C Final meet with a winning time of 58.52 seconds, while Steven Gasparini of Duke wound up second in 58.58 seconds. Dillon Love of SwimMAC Carolina was placed third in 59.10 seconds. Brian McClintock of
Rays earned fourth place honours in 59.59 seconds, whereas, House Kyle finished fifth in a time of 1 minute and 00.05 seconds. Sean Corcoran surprisingly grabbed the eighth spot in a time of 1 minute and 00.77 seconds.
The Men’s 100m back-stroke D Final title was taken over by SwimMAC Carolina’s Kyle Darmody in an impressive time of 58.64 seconds. In the meantime, Karl Krug of Unat Auburn finished second in 59.11 seconds and Drew Cato of Card settled third in a time of
59.69 seconds. James Flannery of NCAC wound up fourth in 59.81 seconds, whereas, the fifth place went to Michael Scheid of LAK in 59.85 seconds. Kyle Darmody’s team-mate, Thomas Hetzel touched the finishing wall eighth in a time of 1 minute and 00.66 seconds.
