Kyle Richardson conquers Men’s 100m freestyle crown in Tokyo: 2011 FINA World Cup
The final round of the seven-stop FINA World Cup series got off to an amazing start with thrilling performances of Australian and Chinese swimmers in Tokyo, Japan, on Saturday, November 12. Kyle Richardson went on to clinch Men’s 100m freestyle title, while
Luomeng Ren claimed Women’s 800m freestyle crown.
Double Commonwealth champion, Kyle Richardson of Australia smashed his rivals including Kenta Ito of Japan and Chad Le Clos of South Africa by thrashing the finishing cordon in a breathtaking blot of 47.31 seconds. After the splash, Ito went on to win silver
medal in a time of 47.37 seconds and Le Clos claimed bronze title in a mark of 47.48 seconds.
Olympic gold medallist, Alain Bernard of France was not able to secure top stop and finished fourth in the respective race by clicking the finishing barrier in a time of 47.49 seconds. Meanwhile, Andrew Lauterstein of Australia picked fourth position in
a fastest time of 48.81 seconds and Yuuki Kawachi of Japan earned sixth spot in a time of 48.93 seconds.
In addition, Kazuki Nagura of Japan settled at seventh place in a mark of 49.26 seconds and Shinri Shioura of Japan earned eighth place honours by touching the finishing wall in a spot of 49.62 seconds.
On the other hand, the Women’s 800m freestyle title was grabbed by Luomeng Ren of China in a winning time of 8 minutes and 22.59 seconds. Meanwhile, Emu Higuchi of Japan earned silver medal by clicking the finishing blockade in a triumphant mark of 8 minutes
and 24.05 seconds and Asami Chida of Japan earned bronze title in a time of 8 minutes and 24.99 seconds.
Yumi Kida of Japan and Fei Wang of China also performed well in the respective splash and settled at fourth and fifth places in a time of 8 minutes and 30.49 seconds and 8 minutes and 33.57 seconds, respectively.
Ayano Koguchi of Japan earned sixth place honours by touching the finishing blockade in a time of 8 minutes and 34.85 seconds, while Yuwen s**+ of China settled at seventh place in a spot of 8 minutes and 35.74 seconds. Finally, Misato Iwanaga of Japan picked
eighth spot in 8 minutes and 40.08 seconds.
