Kyle Walker sets personal best: Fantasy Premier League Team of the Week – Gameweek 7 – Part 1
It was an intense weekend of Barclays Premier League action this past weekend, as Gameweek 7 saw not one, but two fierce derby clashes on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
Liverpool took the short trip across town to play Everton at Goodison Park in an entertaining encounter, while Tottenham played host to Arsenal in a thrilling match, which unfortunately will be remembered more for events that took place off the field of
play.
Manchester United continued their fine form and Chelsea had Frank Lampard to thank for a superb hat-trick, as the veteran Blues player showed he still had it in him. Manchester City also kept up the pressure at the top of the table, and Fulham wiped the
floor with Queens Park Rangers.
While all of that was great for the every football fan who watched those matches, a considerable number of them had another thing apart from the final scores on their minds and that was how their Fantasy Premier League team had done.
Here is a look through at the players every manager wish they had in their side for Gameweek 7 and if they did have them, then these are the players which put the biggest smiles on their faces.
Goal Keeper
Mark Schwarzer – Fulham – 8 Points
Beating out Liverpool keeper, Pepe Reina, by a margin of just one point, the Goal Keeper with the highest amount of points for the Gameweek was Fulham’s Australian keeper, Mark Schwarzer.
Keeping a clean sheet always helps, but making a few saves and putting in a solid performance go a long way as well. Schwarzer may not have earned any Bonus Points, but six saves and a clean sheet managed to get him to an impressive eight points.
Defenders
Moving on to the back four now, and for one certain player, scoring his first goal for his club could not have come on a more fitting occasion.
Kyle Walker – Tottenham Hotspur – 11 Points
Tottenham Hotspur have two very attack-minded and lightening quick wing backs. While everyone may already have heard of Gareth Bale, Kyle Walker is announcing himself to the football world in some fashion.
His first goal for the club came last weekend against bitter London rivals, Arsenal. It was the defenders goal which eventually gave Tottenham the win and managed to earn him a 3-point bonus.
Jose Enrique – Liverpool – 11 Points
It seems that derbies bring out the best in wing backs as Jose Enrique also helped himself to 11- points against Everton at the Merseyside derby. While the Spanish left back may not have scored, his clean sheet, assist and two bonus points meant that reaching
double figures was easy enough to achieve in the end.
With almost a quarter of managers having selected the player, it seems there were plenty of smiles at the final tabulation of the Gameweek’s points.
