Kyler Van Swol and Michael Klueh dominate Men’s events: Fran Crippen Memorial Swim Meet of Champions
Kyler Van Swol and Michael Klueh dominated the Men’s events on fourth day of the 2011 Fran Crippen Memorial Swim Meet of Champions. The session concluded after the events of Men’s 100m butterfly, 800m freestyle, 100m back-stroke and the 200m Individual Medley
(IM).
The session initiated with the 100m butterfly event, where Minn-MN’s Kyler T Van Swol conquered the top spot on the podium, by winning the gold medal of the event in a terrific time of 54.02 seconds. His timing was 0.15 seconds slower than his fastest qualification
time of 53.87 seconds in the preliminary rounds. He was followed by TROJ-CA’s Dominik J Meichtry, who sustained his second fastest spot into the finals and reached the podium for silver medal, by clocking a time of 54.27 seconds. Meichtry was 0.75 seconds
behind his closest competitor, Kurt P Bassett of New Zealand, who ended his swim in a third fastest time and secured the bronze medal, by posting a time of 55.02 seconds
Next was the 100m back-stroke final, where MTKA-MN’s David E Plummer conquered the top of the podium for gold medal, by producing a superb effort of 54.19 seconds. His time was considerably away from his fellow swimmers, Tyler T Clary of FAST-CA and Kurt
Bassett of New Zealand, who followed him on the finishing wall as the second and third fastest sprinters. Clary clocked a time of 55.57 seconds to occupy the silver medal, while Bassett submitted an effort of 57.24 seconds for the bronze medal.
Few minutes later, Michael Klueh of UN-CA was the fastest swimmer to earn the title of the 800m freestyle event. Klueh touched the wall for gold medal in a winning time of 7 minutes and 56.59 seconds. He was nearly two seconds ahead of his strongest rival,
Chad La Tourette of MVN-CA, who occupied the podium for the silver medal, by posting a time of 7 minutes and 58.63 seconds. The bronze medal went to DST-MA’s Andrew Gemmell, who completed his swim in a time of 8 minutes and 07.56 seconds for the third position.
Tyler Clary of Fast-CA improved the meet record of 200m IM, where he touched the wall in a time of 2 minutes and 01.14 seconds. He was followed by Robert Margalis and Sean A Mathews of WILD-IL, who appeared on the finishing wall as the second and third position
holders, by touching the wall in 2:02.17 and 2:04.75 minutes, respectively.
The championships concluded after the final event, while the arena acknowledged tremendous efforts of international swimmers, who were trying to achieve a podium finish in their respective events.
