Kylie Stewart earns Women’s 100m freestyle gold: Day four – USA Swimming Sectionals
Kylie Stewart of DYNA-GA earned gold medal of the Women’s 100m freestyle on fourth day of the 2012 USA Swimming Sectionals in Greensboro on Sunday, July 15.
The audience noticed stunning form of Stewart in the opening event of the championship as her challengers capitulated and she made her way to the medal rostrum for gold medal.
The 16-year-old Stewart demonstrated her notable efforts in the 100m discipline and transpired on the finishing blockade for gold medal by producing a nice time of 57.38 seconds.
Her title-claiming effort remained 0.95 seconds faster from Kathleen Cook of DYNA-GA, who sprinted her way to the medal rostrum for silver medal by posting a time of 58.33 seconds.
Similarly, Cook remained 0.45 seconds faster from Micah Bohon of City of Charleston, who proved her mettle for bronze medal of the discipline by touching the wall with an effort of 58.78 seconds.
Fourth finest spot of the race was obtained by Emily Kelly of Long Island-MR, who stayed 0.07 seconds slower from overpowering her foregoing finisher and touched the wall with the timing of 58.85 seconds.
Kelly was chased by Kaitlin Kitchens of SA-GA, who remained 0.24 seconds apart and appeared on the finishing blockade as fifth fastest swimmer by submitting a time of 59.09 seconds.
Sixth position of the race was secured by Katie Christy of DYNA-GA, who suffered a loss of 0.05 seconds from her former finisher and tapped the wall with the timing of 59.14 seconds.
On the other hand, Brent Murray accomplished gold medal of the Men’s 100m freestyle. The 19-year-old Murray devastated his opponents and showed his urgency towards the finishing blockade for gold medal.
With his impeccable efforts, he made his way to the wall with the timing of 50.72 seconds for gold medal.
He was followed by Kyle Ficker of Swim-FL, who remained two body lengths apart and stepped on the victory stand for silver medal by clocking a time of 52.53 seconds.
The second position holder was traced by DJ Boutte of DYNA-GA, who remained just half a body length apart and secured bronze medal of the discipline by posting an effort of 52.91 seconds.
Fourth position of the discipline was secured by Cody Reul of SA-GA, who secured 0.11 seconds apart and hit the finishing blockade with the timing of 53.02 seconds.
Reul was trailed by Sam Lewis of DYNA-GA, who stayed 0.49 seconds apart and finished fifth in the event with the timing of 53.51 seconds.
Lewis was chased by John Newell of NSS-NC, who ended his race in sixth best place by clocking a time of 53.57 seconds.
In addition, Stewart and Murray were happy with their gold claiming efforts in the freestyle discipline.
