Kylie Stewart grabs Women’s 200m backstroke gold – Junior Pan Pacific Championships
Kylie Stewart of USA grabbed gold medal of the Women’s 200m backstroke on day three of the 2012 Junior Pan Pacific Swimming Championships in Honolulu, Hawaii on Saturday, August 25.
Stewart, who entered the final round as most favourite swimmer for gold medal, showered her expertise in the playoff of the discipline and captured the title.
With her persistent efforts, she remained in a considerable lead over her opponents and tapped the wall for gold medal with a timing of 2 minutes and 09.99 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Kaitlyn Jones of USA, who stayed 1.09 seconds behind and stepped on the victory stand for silver medal by producing a time of 2 minutes and 11.08 seconds.
The second position holder was chased by Kana Ozeki of Japan, who stayed 0.10 seconds slower from improving her position and completed her race in third best place by reporting a time of 2 minutes and 11.18 seconds.
Ozeki was followed by Sydney Pickrem of Canada, who stayed 0.24 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and settled on the wall as fourth fastest swimmer by reporting a time of 2 minutes and 11.42 seconds.
Fifth fastest spot of the race was secured by Mikkayla Sheridan of Australia, who stayed nearly two body lengths apart and hit the wall with a timing of 2 minutes and 13.13 seconds.
Similarly, Sheridan was chased by Keryn McMaster of Australia, who remained 0.80 seconds slower from her former finisher and secured sixth position of the event by reporting a time of 2 minutes and 13.93 seconds.
McMaster was followed by Yuriko Saito of Japan, who stayed 0.35 seconds behind and tapped the wall for seventh spot with an effort of 2 minutes and 14.28 seconds.
Saito was followed by Cynthia Pammett of Canada, who remained 2.19 seconds apart and ended her race in eighth best place by touching the wall with a timing of 2 minutes and 16.47 seconds.
Stewart was extremely contented with her gold securing achievement and articulated that she would train harder to continue the same at superior levels of swimming.
