Kyren Wilson edge past Jak Jones in the final deciding frame: World Snooker Q School
Kyren Wilson advanced to the fourth round after registering a 4-3 win over Jak Jones in Event 1 of this season’s World Snooker Q School. This event is being held at the World Snooker Academy in Sheffield.
It was a highly impressive performance from Kyren Wilson, as he was trailing his opponent 0-3 before he bounced back into the game, with all of his energy and showed nerves of steel to edge past his opponent in the final deciding frame. Meanwhile,
Jak Jones, who previously outplayed Thanawat Thirapongpaiboon by a frame score of 4-2, has fallen down.
The overall score-line between the players was 90-6 (Jones 47), 82-16 (Jones 60), 64-29 (Jones 38), 18-69, 46-58 (Jones 36), 19-58 (Wilson 57) and 9-69 (Wilson 61).
The Welshman, Jones, stormed into a 0-2 lead with classy breaks of 47 and 60 in both frames respectively. A few chances were exchanged in the third frame but again it was Jones who came on the top with a top break of 38 to extend his lead further by
0-3.
It looked as if the match is over and Jones is going to secure a place in the fourth round, but everyone was left flabbergasted when Wilson, out of the blue clawed back with all of his strength and won all of the four frames in a row.
Fourth frame was a scrappy affair. A bout of safety play was seen between the players, but it was Wilson who came on the top to break his duck, 1-3. Jones had a match-winning chance in the fifth, but he again lost control of his emotions and was punished
from his opponent.
The 17-year-old, Jones, also had good chances in the following sixth and seventh but he failed to capitalise on them and when the chances presented themselves, Wilson slotted superb breaks of 57 and 61 in both frames respectively to finish the matter
off.
The 19-year-old, Wilson, will now face the Chinese, Zhang Anda, in the round four.
