Looking for somewhere different to go, love the quieter parts of Turkey usually. Came across Kyrenia on the web and quite fancy it, looks picturesque and not too big a place. Just wondered if anyone has been there and if so how expensive is it to eat out as we will be renting a villa or apartment if we go. Of course like anywhere else I suppose it depends on what sort of restaurant or bar you decide to eat in as the prices just as in the UK can vary greatly.

  1. You will love Kyrenia , it is also called Girne . There are loads of good restaurants and eateries , I have a villa just outside Kyrenia and am going over for two months in 3 weeks time .The harbour is full of bars and restaurants and is beautiful especially at night , but if you do eat down there be careful they seem to have one price for tourists and one for residents !! away from the town you will find beautiful beaches  and scenery , as well as loads of good eateries . there are Chinese , Indian and of course Turkish restaurants  , as well as plenty of English bars .

really really recommend it , have a good holiday .

  2. Yes, Kyrenia is very nice! Not too expensive, and fairly cheap to eat out...though, it has to be said, just as it is in the southern part of Cyprus, thers in a lot of building going on, and its changing all the time. That said, don't be put off, its not the sort of building work that will affect your holiday in any way, its just that some websites aren't updated that often, and it can look very different when you get here!!

I live about 8K from Agia Napa in the south, and, I can guarantee, if I go away for a couple of weeks, by the time I come back, something has changed, or something looks very different from when I left!

I'm sure you would have a wonderful time in Kyrenia, but do try and come across and visit the south. One of the main checkpoints in Lefkosia ( Nicosia) opened up just a couple of months ago, ( Ledras Street) and you can pass through on foot but don't forget your passport , you will need it if you cross the border.

  3. Kyrenia is Lovely. good for a relaxing holiday. It is not really that expensive for eating out and beer. The harbor is really nice but a little bit more expensive than restaurants away from the harbor.
