absolute value of (3x - 1) means there will be a positive side and negative side.  so there will be the (3x - 1) for x > 0 and -(3x - 1) for x =< 0  which will = 1 - 3x.

first lets start with the (3x - 1) = 1-3x.  get rid of parenthesis and get 3x - 1 = 1 - 3x combine like terms and get 6x = 2.  so x would equal 1/3 for x > 0.  now for the -(3x - 1) or the negative part of the absolute because if u do absolute of a negative, ull get back that positive answer.  first distribute the negative and get -3x + 1 = 1 - 3x.  notice when u combine like term, it will become 0 = 0.  this mean, any negative number will work for this.

so the x values to make this equation true would be 2, x <= 0 (meaning any x equal and less than 0 would work)

you can test it out with any negative number.
