The Dodgers have not gotten Mr. Manny yet but are in talks.

As well as the New York Mets.

Will the Red Sox's work without their Star Player?

  1. not until they get CC and Ryan Braun

  2. You can't trade a player the caliber of Ramirez and expect your team to be just as good without him.  Should the Red Sox trade him they will have had to come to the conclusion that the problems he creates are of a greater concern than what he is able to do for them on the field.  Also, Manny has enough service time that he can void any trade.  If the team that wants him is not willing to give him a two or three year contract now than Manny could void the deal.  If the Red Sox don't do something now and don't pick up his two year option at $20 million per year, Manny can walk out as a free agent after this season and do his own deal somewhere else and the Red Sox are left without anything in trade for him.  The Red Sox could very likely come to the conclusion that they can't win this year without him and won't be able to get much for him if they try and trade him, so he stays with the team and continues to be a distraction to the Red Sox goal of winning another world series.

  3. Manny Ramirez will not get traded at all.  He is one of the top players on the roster and without him their would be a lot less power in the lineup.  Not a lot of teams are interested in trading for him because he is too expensive.  twenty million dollars is a lot of money for a player who just hit 20 homeruns and 88 RBIs in the 07 season. He is getting older and his performence isn't as good as it was in his younger playing days.

  4. Red Sox being Red Sox, they will live to play another day.....................would be funny to see the two teams meet in the postseason.

  5. There are no "talks" The Red Sox aren't going to trade their best player in the middle of a pennant race. Where do you people get this c**p?

  6. no they r giving him to the padres

  7. the red sox would be stupid to trade manny imo, but there obviously are going to be teams who are interested in getting a power bat like his...as long as he goes to the nl there's a good chance that this won't end up coming back to haunt the sox, and you can only imagine that boston will only talk to nl clubs

  8. The Red Sox would be idiots to trade Ramirez while in the middle of a tough pennant race. And they're not idiots.

I could see them letting him go during the off-season, but at least then they would have 5 months to figure out how to restructure the team.

  9. I THINK MANNY WILL BE A RED SOX FOR THE REST OF THE SEASON

  10. Dodgers suck and have taken on TOO many terrible acquisitions including Andrew Jones. They need to work on their farm system, not head cases like Manny

  11. The dodgers could use him but hes too much of a distraction a terrible fielder and would cost alot of money and prospects and Mr.Torre will not go for that.

On the other hand the mets should get him. it weakens a team they might see in the World Series and hes another good bat in that great line-up but the only thing is he should probably be DH because he's the worst fielder in the game of baseball and since the mets are in the NL no DH

  12. I don't know about the Mets, but he's not coming to L.A. The Dodgers won't take on more money, thus making that deal impossible to construct. They may be talking (I've been hearing that too), but it won't happen. Way too complicated to put it together.

The Red Sox will take a hit on the deal regardless of who they get, but it could be good for their future. The Sox are very good at knowing when to cut the line, and it's Manny's time now. I think it will be seen as the right thing to do a year or two from now. To be completely honest though, I don't know how they move him. It would have to be a very interesting package.

  13. i would love to see this happen. they would never win without him.the red sox faithful cant survive watching their team lose!!1 yes yes yes

  14. Manny isn't going anywhere. There isn't anything out there that would benefit the Red Sox.

  15. This happens every year.  And he will not be moved.  you should go to mlbtraderumors.com if you want good info.  I am not promoting the site, I just think its a great place.
