L’ Hirondelle dominant in the Watch Royal Ascot On At The Races Handicap at Lingfield
The line-up of sixteen four-year and older runners that the Class 5 Watch Royal Ascot On At The Races Handicap has brought together are pretty experienced at Lingfield but none of them has been able to strike a race at the track yet. It will be held over
seven furlongs and one hundred and forty yards on Thursday, 7th June.
L’ Hirondelle, Anabaa’s eight-year-old bay gelding out of mare, Auratum, scored second at Lingfield through the second outing of the new season. He has been active during five races and has not been able to post a victory through any of the starts.
He strode into the season by ending tenth in the Goffs Ready – To – Run Sale April 3rd Handicap (London Mile Qualifier) on 7th March at Kempton over a mile. The race was won by Zaheeb and finishing the closest was Junket.
Coming at terms with the third position was the 5/2 favourite of the race, Rezwaan.
His second try of the season at Lingfield was in the Heart’s Feel Good Friday Handicap on 11th May at Lingfield over a mile. He ranked fourth on the field of eleven while the race was won by Rezwaan. Completing the trip closest to the winner was
the 9/2 joint favourite of the race, Officer In Command.
The other joint favourite, For What, ended third.
His performance at the race track deteriorated as he got driven down to the tenth position in the Smiths News Handicap on 23rd May at Lingfield over a mile. The race was won by Scottish Glen while qualifying as the runner up was 9/2 joint favourite,
Whitby Jet.
The other joint favourite, Perfect Mission, concluded sixth on the track of eleven.
He has failed to present anything outstanding to the connections and the crowds but then he is the one who has at least scored second there and has raced twice at Lingfield ever since then.
He will need to look out for Takitwo who has claimed his seasonal debut and might not be in a mood to miss the second chance of the season.
