  1. The thyroid make a thyroid homone, T4, that's converted into the active thyroid hormone, T3. Thyroxine is T4. The levorotary isomer, L-thyroxine, AKA levothyroxine, is the one used for thyroid replacement treatment. The D-, or dextrorotary isomer, is used for other stuff.

The classic brand name for levothyroxine is Synthroid.

  2. It's a thyroid drug to help hypothyroidism, (low thyroid).

  3. for thyroid.

  4. Its a thyroid hormone replacement drug Rxd for low thyroid production.

  5. it is a synthetic replacement for thyroid hormone and is used to treat hypothyroidism.   There is a natural replacement available called "Armour thyroid"  which is made from dessicated (dried) thyroid glands of either pigs or cows (I can't remember which).
