  1. a different school that she might like better?

can you afford a tutor? i would try a different school if your unsure that she is learning everything she is supposed to. google home teaching there is some great information out there.

  2. why not get a tutor in and sit in so you get some tips on what to do and how to do it etc and he/she might also help get your daughters grades up to satisfy the lea.

There are also websites for parents who home school... have a hunt on google!

  3. I would get in contact with your local branch of Education Otherwise. They will be able to offer you some advice on your options.

    Here is their web site

    http://www.education-otherwise.org/

  4. Assuming you're in the UK, there aren't any rules about home education.  The LEA can only insist she goes to school if they can prove that NO education is taking place.   Your daughter doesn't have to pass any exams, or keep up with her peers in school,or jump through hoops of any sort - all you need is to demonstrate that she is receiving education appropriate to her age, ability, aptitude and any special needs she might have.

I suggest you sit down with your daughter and make a list of everything she does that can possibly be considered educational.  Does she read?  Bake?  Work in the garden?  Do any voluntary work?  All those are educational.   Her photography course will encompass reading skills and IT as well as art, if she's doing it online.  Even watching educational TV shows would probably count.

Stay polite with the LEA, answer their queries, let them know that your daughter is intelligent and motivated, and doing much better at home than she did at school, and you should find you're OK.   Good luck!

  5. Have a look at  :http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Parents/Scho...

Hope it helps and good luck. I wonder if your LEA can actually do any better given what we hear in the news?
