Question:

LA boxing, Muay Thai?

Was wondering if anyone knows at LA boxing if they actually train Muay Thai fighters? I'd be new to Muay thai but eventually would like to learn how to fight in the ring. And also do you know if they have a belt system? The school I just tried yesterday had a belt system and it was weird because I didn't think Muay Thai had a belt system.

Any advice would help, thanks.

  1. LA Boxing does teach Muay Thai but it's not real Muay Thai, if your out here in L.A. than i'd suggest going to a real Muay Thai gym, the absolute best Muay Thai gym i know of is in Van Nuys, it's on a small street near the Panorama Mall but than again i'm not sure if you are actually in L.A. also as far as i know, there is no belt system.

  2. lots of martial arts have a belt system. really it isn't the belt that is important. Commercialized schools often emphasize the belt as a reward which makes it exciting for people who don't really have what it takes to advance in the martial arts. its also a way a school can charge extra money. for the belt, for the test, for the uniform, etc. I suggest finding a gym that doesn't emphases that and works primarily on fighting
