  1. sure, if you have the 30+ grand to spend on it.. more power to you.

  2. Golly, I'd certainly hope so.  But, like the first person said, if the guy who is giving it to me is a dud, then there's not a ring I'd accept from him, period.

  3. my ring is def not 4ct but i absolutely love my fiance, i would have said yes if all he had was a washer....

    get ins. on it asap

  4. If thats not big enough, you better not marry her! If she thinks thats isnt enough, your in big trouble with any future purchases...ie...house, car, etc.

  5. I personally thing a solitaire 4 carat ring would be too big... seriously.

But, if you are getting something between .75 carat and 1.5 carat for the center stone and dividing the other carats on the adorning, smaller diamonds (ex- around the band) that would be better... I think any stone bigger than two carats is TOO BIG!

  6. If your girl says yes for the rock then she is saying it for the wrong reasons. You should maybe consider the size or weight and if that's the one you want to get her that's great but I would consider buying a smaller one she can wear on a day to day basis due to the weight of it.

  7. sounds like you both are superficial

  8. are you actually talking about a four carat diamond or are you talking about .zero four ???i would think you are talking about that instead or you would not be asking on yahoo instead you would be asking all your rich friends that you need to impress.... otherwise your an idiot... most women dont want something that big... one and a half carat is nice... i wouldnt want anything bigger. it looks tacky as h**l and i would rather use that money elsewhere instead of wearing it on my finger!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  9. Wow, that is a very large engagement ring!  Good Luck!

  10. Yes! A long as the guy is the one I want to spend the rest of my life with I dont need a ring

  11. that's almost tacky big

  12. That's huge. Are you sure she wants one that big?? 1 or 2 carats is the norm.

  13. h**l yeah - that is one big rock

  14. Of course!! She is one lucky lady...

  15. 4 ct is way way way too big. get her a 1 ct and save the rest of the money you would have spent and put it toward the wedding itself

  16. It is a big ring! But size isn't the only thing that factors into buying a diamond. Diamonds go by the 4C's which are Carat, Clarity, Colour and Cut. Most of the jewellers websites will have a bit of information that helps when buying a diamond.

    Try this one:

Also maybe take her shopping to look at rings, just to see what style and size she likes. If she has tiny hands then chances are she won't want a huge diamond! Also get her finger sized before you buy the ring, there is nothing worse than getting a beautiful enagement ring that you can't show off because you've had to take it back to the jeweller to be resized!

    GOOD LUCK!

  17. Definitely yes. Mine was not even 1CT. But I'm ok with our wedding ring.

  18. good lord. you better get insurance on that thing...thats HUGE

  19. I personally wouldn't want a ring that big and expensive, I'd be terrified of damaging or losing it.

  20. With a four carat ring she's just asking to get mugged.....if she can even lift her hand from the weight of it.....

    So, brag much? lol......

  21. I would go with a 1.5-2.5 carat diamond Max as long as you spend your money wisely on a high quality high color, clarity and cut and a special setting. Give these guys a call, they are very helpful when it comes to diamonds and engagement rings.

  22. i think that is a bit too much.  be ready to spend an enormous amount of money

  23. Yes, it's big enough if you're both into that kind of superficial stuff. I don't mean to sound cliche or anything, but it really shouldn't matter how big the diamond is.

But to answer your question, yes, a four carat engagement ring is (more than) big enough.

  24. It's huge! I think I should give you my partner's email... hehehe.

  25. if that's a 4 ct solitaire that's huge!  I always said I wanted a 2 and that on my hand looked silly!

Not if its total weight between several smaller diamonds its another thing.

If you aren't sure propose without a ring and let her pick one!

  26. Are you crazy? That is huge! Whoever she is she is lucky, and yes it is big enough, almost everyone I know has a 1 ct, if she knows anything about jewelry she will know that you put down a lot of money for that, and she will be very happy!

What a lucky girl she is!

  27. Well yea. It's too big actually. Anything over 2 is too big IMO (especially for me personally because I have a small hand). My personal ring is 1.5c and sometimes I get tired of people going "Can you hold that thing up?", "Is it heavy?", "How much did it cost?"

  28. Hmmm... I think you probably already know it's a big ring - do you want your ego stroking? On a serious note though, it doesn't matter about the size (bet you've heard that one before) but the quality of the stone - you can pick up a 4ct diamond that is riddled with flaws and is an unappealing shade (anything below J on the colour scale) as cheaply as you can a .50 carat that is internally flawless and is a perfect D on the colour scale. As a final point, i'd hate to tote around such a massive rock regardless of the quality - I'd be embarrassed about what it said about me and my fiancee.

  29. 4 carats?! WOW!! That is a rock. I have a 1 carat diamond, but I'm going to trade up for our 10th wedding anniversary to a 3 carat solitaire.

    Good luck to you. :)
