  1. Laser does not weaken tooth enamel as g.law333 stated.  All it does is "activate" the bleaching gel thereby accelerating it.  There is nothing magical about laser whitening.

The only factors are cost and time.  Laser whitening usually cost quite a bit more than the tray and gel systems.  Laser whitening is fast, one appointment in office with some tray and gel systems to follow at home.

The tray and gel systems are usually much more affordable.  But can take up to 2 weeks of daily use to get to where you want to be.  These systems offer more control.  If your teeth get sensitive after nightly bleaching, you can go to once every two or three days.

Update....sure g.law333.  Give me your evidence, journal articles etc.  By the way you are arguing with a dentist of 15 years, and who does a heck of a lot of bleaching an no one has had their enamel weakened as a result.  You can't be a dentist, since you say that the laser "blasts" the enamel, when all it does is light activate the product.

  2. You have two options....laser or gel.

I'd by far recommend GEL!  Laser works by 'blasting' the enamel on the tooth which weakens it.

If you go to your dentist, you can have them whitenened with a gel pack (which will have special trays specially moulded to your mouth shape as well as a few syringes of gel) for around £350.  In the future, you just get replacement syringes.

It's much safer as it gently lightens the shade of the tooth.

ACTUALLY, I THINK YOU'LL FIND IT DOES WEAKEN THE ENAMEL ON THE TOOTH OR WOULD YOU CARE TO ARGUE ABOUT THAT TO A QUALIFIED DENTIST? :)

  3. ask your dentist their opinion.
