LAFD Firefighter injured or passed away?

I passed by a FireStation and they had the American Flag half way.I also saw a County Firefighter that had that black strap around his badge.

Did a firefighter passed away recently or something else happened?

  1. it was a la county sheriff officer.  he was killed outside his house by the mexican mafia.  today was his funeral.
