  1. What City , State ????

Check out a local paper for that area.

  2. I used to live in Milan, so I know the Como area very well. If you are staying in Como, I suggest you take a boat trip to Bellagio, a beautiful small town right in the middle of the lake. You can also take the funicular to Brunate, a small town on top of a mountain, and admire the city and the lake from above.

Restaurants: there's plenty of them, especially downtown (where you can also do some shopping). They may be a little expensive (especially in August), but the food is good. If you like fish, you can try some local fish specialties. If you feel like walking a little, go from downtown to Villa Olmo (a former stately home converted into a conference center). You'll walk all along the lakefront, across the public gardens. Villa Olmo gardens are also beautiful. There used to be a restaurant a few years ago, the food was delicious. I hope it's still there. It's called "Ristorante Villa Olmo". Check it out. Should it be closed, there's another restaurant called "La Spiaggia" (or at least there used to be) next to it.

And while in Italy, don't forget to try the real, authentic Italian "gelato" (ice cream). Too yummy!!!
