Question:

LAZER, PLAZMA, or DIGITAL TV?

I am shopping for a new TV for my home.

My viewing-distance ranges from 10-25 feet.

With all *the options* of features available nowadays (high-definition, wide-screen, digital, etc.) which style of TV offers a better deal for my use? I use many viewing angles watching TV. And I "normally" do not watch programs w. a scroll-bar on it.

I am currently connected to my cable TV system, so analog signal is O.K.

  1. All TVs now sold have digital tuners. If you are going to be 10'-25' from the screen, you will need at least a 50" screen! In these large sizes, plasma tends to be less expensive. The best dollar for dollar 50" and up, unless you spend a whole lot of time playing games, is the Panasonic Viera plasma display, in either 720p/1080i or 1080p.

In large 50"+ LCDs, look at Sony, Toshiba, and Samsung. For best performance, you will have to get HD service from your cable company, at extra cost - digital service is not enough.

Suggestion: As you are obviously very new to the current TV technology, go to your public library and read the HDTV article in the 3/08 Consumer Reports magazine. It will definitely be worth your time. I promise!
