LB Bradie James wants Houston Texans to reach Super Bowl -NFL News
Veteran linebacker, Bradie James, who joined the Houston Texans almost a month ago, says he would like to see the team building on the success it achieved in the 2011 National Football League (NFL) to make it to the Super Bowl in the upcoming season.
Last year proved to be the most successful of Texans’ NFL runs. The team was able to win the American Football Conference (AFC) South division and made it to the playoffs for the first time in its history.
Now James, who previously played for Dallas Cowboys, says it is time for Texans to get the Super Bowl ring.
He said:
"They tasted success last season and we need to build upon that. It was a natural choice because this is a team that can compete for a championship, and it became a no-brainer."
James, who has gained another opportunity to work with his former defensive coach, Wade Phillips, is hopeful of Texans’ capability of winning the Super Bowl title.
His comments have come a day after the player was entrusted with the responsibility of calling plays, with full backing from Phillips and linebackers coach, Reggie Herring.
The decision of giving the role to James is not liked by many of the local football punters and fans, but both coaching officials believe that the player already has plenty of experience and knows the rules.
Herring is particularly confident of the player’s performance, playing down the age to be a possible factor affecting his form.
The coach said:
"You can talk about his age all you want, but he moves around better than a lot of the 21-year-olds out here. To be honest with you, he didn't fit well in Dallas' scheme because there wasn't really a place for him, for whatever reason."
Herring believes that since James is aware of Phillips’ 3-4 defensive scheme he can prove to be a great asset to the team’s defence.
Since Phillips’ joining about a year ago, Texans have remarkably improved on the league’s rating table, and now the team hopes that James's signing would further benefit them.
