LB Cameron Wake deserts Miami Dolphins’ voluntary workout to press his deal demand-NFL News
Miami Dolphins’ linebacker, Cameron Wake, has joined the list of the National Football League (NFL) deserters who are sitting out of their teams’ voluntary workout in protest to their respective deals related issues.
Wake apparently is not happy over the amount of $615,000 he is going to make into the last year of his current deal and has demanded a new contract from the team.
Dolphins, who have been through hard times recently due to the fans’ protest and criticism, have so far not hinted if they are going to succumb to the player’s demand and land him a rather expensive deal.
The linebacker, who had been pressing his demand all along since end of the 2011 NFL season, did not join his teammates for mini training camp of the team on Tuesday, April 24, 2012.
He has participated in some workouts during the initial week of the program, but has now decided to further press his demand while sitting out on the fence in protest.
Dolphins’ managers have confirmed the player’s presence in the conditioning workout of the programme during past week. They have so far opted to maintain a mum on the lingering issue of his new contract.
Wake’s four-year deal is due to run out at the end of this season but the player had been seeking a new deal with better benefits. He remains unsuccessful to get the managers hear and accept his pressing demands.
It is less like at this stage that the managers will heed to his concerns as almost all of them are focused on their draft situation with the 2012 NFL draft due to be held from Thursday, April 26, to Saturday, April 28.
Since there is no official comment on the matter by either of the team’s managers, chances of getting his demand considered remain uncertain.
He still has the last season left on his present contract and amid the scenario there is no possibility of him being traded to any other team.
Wake could sit out of the voluntary program, but eventually, he will have to participate in the team’s other offseason activities whether or not his demand is accepted.
