LB James Harrison uncertain for Pittsburgh Steelers vs Denver Broncos season opener – NFL News
Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison is uncertain about the season opener against the Denver Broncos this Sunday, saying he does not feel hundred percent with the knee situation.
James, who returned to practice for the first time on Monday after having a knee surgery on August 15, said he did not feel comfortable and would like to see how the situation progressed by the weekend before making himself available.
Considering himself out of the side might be a wise decision for James, as he should know that playing against quarterback Peyton Manning will not be as easier as it is against some other offence players, especially after he said he felt "very little discomfort"
in the knee.
His participation nevertheless will be important for the team given the player does not enjoy a good reputation among his opponents on the offensive line - he looms as a threat for his daring and rough challenges, and has knocked down a number of players
with as serious injuries as concussions.
Also, since the Steelers are not hundred percent about availability of LB Jason Worilds, James’ ability to return to full fitness well in time for the weekend game will be a good development for them.
Worilds is recovering from a wrist injury he suffered during the offseason campaign but looks almost ready to return, depending the Steelers consider him healthy and fit enough to play on the weekend.
He said:
"It's not my decision, but if it was my decision I would tell myself that I was going to play this week. So, today was a great day, and hopefully each one will get better this week. And if I continue to progress, I'll definitely be ready to go."
Meanwhile, wide receiver Mike Wallace who recently returned to action after having remained on the holdout is upbeat about his fitness level. He insists he is ready to face off the Broncos challenge and that the team should not make him limited in the game.
After doing some practice on Monday, Wallace said:
"I felt pretty good out there, and coach gave me a lot to look at today. But he's good about that. He knew that I wanted to work, and I was able to get in a lot of extra time."
Since Wallace has an attitude of working on his fitness in an individual capacity in the offseason phase, his claim of being hundred percent can be accepted as valid.
