LB Terrell Suggs’ absence can play to Cincinnati Bengals’ advantage vs Baltimore Ravens – NFL News
Linebacker Terrell Suggs is out with a torn Achilles tendon until November at least and his absence can play to the Cincinnati Bengals advantage as they take on the divisional rivals and host Baltimore Ravens in the season opener this Sunday.
Suggs’ return is not possible for the initial couple of months as minimum and the defenseman who has orchestrated many victories for the Ravens must be missed by the team in their home game against the Bengals on the weekend.
Ravens wide receiver Torrey Smith hopes:
"It's definitely tough without Suggs. It's definitely a difference. But that's on everyone to pick up the slack not only the defence, but us as well."
Although Suggs’ November return is not guaranteed given the recovery process from such injuries is often unpredictable, it will boost the Ravens squad strength to an extent if it happens. The veteran is a reckoned formidable defensive force of the team and
any longer absence can certainly have a negative outfall on the line.
The player himself has boasted higher optimism for return by the aforementioned deadline but independently some analysts doubt it happening.
A similar dismal picture of the linebacker’s recovery chances by the date is drawn by coach John Harbaugh. All these arguments form basis on absence of a doctor’s opinion on the matter of recovery and rehab.
Irrespective of the confusion and uncertainty surrounding Terrell’s recovery process, the Ravens will certainly be affected in his absence. They may be favourites against the Bengals in the season opener, but from there on the road is very tough ahead of
them, and it does not bode well with their hopes of reaching the Super Bowl title game this season.
The Ravens are the only team who managed to play in the American Football Conference (AFC) championship game twice and playoffs four times in last four seasons, but they failed to reach the title game during all those years.
Some commentators agree the team stands a better chance of defying the odds and playing the title game this year than ever before. To make it happen they can hope that the players like Suggs are available for all games.
