Does anyone know where I can buy a new, well known brand, lcd hd 1080p tv, online (uk market) for under £500 (size 37" or 32")?

  1. I'll second that...if you want full 1080p, you'll have much better luck with LCD. only a VERY few plasmas offer 1080p, and they usually are very expensive. You can get 1080p lcds in your price range that will look beautiful. I do want to say though, that at 32" you may not even see the full benefit of 1080p. I typically recommend that you go to at least 40" for a 1080p tv. Anything smaller, you can save yourself some cash and get a 720p/1080i that more than likely you won't notice much of a difference in a set that size.

  2. You won't get a well known brand that is full HD for under £500. You can get the latest series 6 Samsung 32" for around £660 or a 37" Toshiba for just under £700 both at:

To be honest unless you are really cramped for space that you can't get a big tv, then if you want full HD you should go for at least a 37", and this is only if you will be watching HD content.

Also, just to support the first answer. It is not true that Plasmas have to be regassed. There are a lot of myths about Plasma and LCD tvs. Have a read of this site:

    http://plasmaorlcd.co.uk/myths_facts.asp...

They highlight the myths and facts and explain why they are myths too. Plasmas are great for those who want a 42" or more. After that you just have to decide what resolution plasma you want. If you watch HD then get a 1080p set. If you will never watch HD for the forseeable future then get a 1024x768 plasma set.

    Hope that helps!

you again Acka how the ***** does plasma look better then full hd 1080p

i have a full hd samsung 40" and you don't get better blu ray picture quality then that

  4. I am quite happy to correct you, because you are wrong - plasmas do NOT need re-gassing after a certain amount of time, in much the same way as you don't have to pump oil into your car's engine every 20 miles.

    It's something called progress...

Despite some of the misinformed rubbish you'll see spouted in Y!A, 63% of the popluation actually prefer plasmas.

  5. Get a Plasma, they look much better,

why not just go 42" , 32" is way too small, when you are considering 37"

  6. I have a 32" lcd t.v and it's a good size. If you look at a 32" and a 37" in a store side by side there isn't a great deal of difference so if you can afford to pay £100/150 more for a few more screen inches that's up to you. Argos also have quite a few lcd t.v's on sale at the moment.
