LCD HDTV owners manual- HELP?

I just purchased a new television and the User Manual is HELPLESS!!! You know when you first turn your TV on you should run "AUTO SCAN." It is asking me about my cable system options which are: AUTO, STD, IRC OR HRC. I don't know which option to choose. Can someone explain what each one of these options stand for or mean? AND PLEASE NEVER BUY A DIGITAL LIFESTYLES TELEVISION!!

Choose (auto). These different settings have something to do with signals, so choose (auto) and it will know which one is best for the signal the tv is receiving.
