LCD Screen. When viewing recording or playback through the LCD screen the picture is very dark

Question

When viewing recording or playback through the LCD screen the picture is very dark unless it's in a specific position which is; nearly closed with screen facing outward making it impossible to use playback controls on camera. I susspect a connection problem so can anyone hel? Can I fix this or does it have to go in for repair?
