  1. Unfortunately, that is one of the shortcomings of this type of television set.  The greater the angle of viewing, the poorer the picture.  Some of the newest sets are much better, but there are still a lot of old ones out there.

For the best picture you obviously want to be straight back and perpendicular to the tv.  Now with LCD, the optimal viewing distance, as has been suggested by many articles I have read, is three times the size of the tv away.  So since you have a 15" LCD tv, the optimal picture can be found at 45" from the screen.  So roughly 4 feet back from the tv is where you should be viewing from.  Sitting at that distance, the angle from perpendicular is much smaller for two side-by-side viewers.  And that angle gets ever more smaller the farther back you sit.  But if you are sitting closer than 4' (roughly) the viewing angle for two side-by-side people becomes farther from perpendicular and you may eventually reach the capability limit of the set.

Within the manual for the tv, there should be mention of what range of angles can be viewed on the tv.  If the angle you are attempting to view from is less than specified, then something is wrong and you should have the rights to send it back or exchange it for an identical model.
