LCR Honda conducts post race test with former Moto2 rider Stefan Bradl at Valencia – MotoGP news
MotoGP team, LCR Honda offered an opportunity to Moto2 World Champion, Stefan Bradl to test the RC212V, 800cc prototype.
He ran about 123 laps in the two-day session held at the Ricardo Tormo circuit at Valencia.
The German rider took few laps to adjust him aboard the 800cc MotoGP prototype. After a few laps run he was able to rank himself in the top-ten slots.
Bradl said, “First of all I want to thank Honda and LCR Team for this great opportunity. I really enjoyed riding a MotoGP bike and I was impressed by Lucio’s team's know-how and high level: we made a very good job together exploring the potential of this
bike.”
He was very thankful to the LCR Honda team and the management to offer him such a great experience. The German rider took 2011 Moto2 title with 11 podium finishes, including four wins.
He won races at Qatar, Portugal, Spain and Britain. He also scored five second place finishes with two third place finishes that gradually pushed him as the title winner.
After the departure of Toni Elias and an end of a rough season, the team was searching for a new rider. This outing with Bradl can put him as a permanent MotoGP rider for LCR Honda.
The former LCR Honda rider, Elias is aiming to continue his racing career in World Superbike Championship. The Spanish rider endured a tough 2011 season, with an injury.
Bradl gave his best lap time of 1 minute and 34.330 seconds and took tenth position on the time sheet for the first day.
While on the second day, though he improved his lap and posted 1 minute and 34.142 seconds but he came tenth in the final time sheet.
Lucio Cecchinello said, “We have concluded two positive days of testing with Stefan and I was impressed by his skills and the way he studies the bike: he gave us a very precise technical feedback if we consider it was his first run on a MotoGP bike.”
Following the completion of the two-day post-race test session, Cecchinello aims to negotiate with sponsors for the 2012 season. He aims to get a strong backing from sponsors to support a healthy project in next season.
