LCR Honda rider Toni Elias finishes 11th at Czech Republic Grand Prix – MotoGP news
LCR Honda rider Toni Elias has improved his race finish compared to previous rounds. The Spanish rider finished 11th in the Cardion AB Grand Prix held at Brno, Czech Republic.
The Spaniard LCR Honda rider struggled to improve his pace through the race weekend. Though he did not do well in first two practice sessions but later he was able to show slight improvements. He qualified 12th out of the 17 riders’
grid.
Elias said, “Well... My start was not brilliant today because I slipped on a dirty part of the track and couldn't catch the first 5 riders in the first corner which was my goal. After that my pace was quite good but not enough to follow Aoyama, and in the
last two laps I had fun battling with Barbera for the 10th position.”
The LCR rider was able to perform well under dry conditions at the venue. Especially after a three-race ultimatum for Elias, he had to improve his results. Since the Mugello event, the Spanish rider was facing a tough time by his LCR team to show top-ten
performances.
After the Italian GP, Brno was the last event in his final warning period, which he has well met by finishing 11th. This time Elias has finished above both Pramac Racing riders Randy de Puniet and Loris Capirossi. However, the possibility came after four
riders from top ten crashed out of the race, which blessed Toni Elias.
Elias said, “At the end, he beat me but the most important thing for me is our pace in the race because today we have finally reduced the gap to the leading group.”
The LCR team has claimed it as an improvement for the upcoming races in the season. Now the team aims to seek further development during the MotoGP post race test at Brno.
Now Elias ranks at 13th position with 43 points in the MotoGP world championship points table. He is three positions down from fellow satellite Honda rider, Hiroshi Aoyama. The LCR Honda team aims to head to the Indianapolis GP
on a better note.
