LCR Honda rider Toni Elias finishes ninth despite a crash in post race test at Brno – MotoGP news
LCR Honda team rider Toni Elias claims that he has improved pace aboard his satellite Honda RCV during the official MotoGP post race test held at Brno, Czech Republic.
Previously, the Spanish rider has been struggling to solve an issue at the front end of his bike. Due to the constant problem, he finished the Czech GP in 11th place. The Spanish premier class rider is at 13th position
in the MotoGP world championship points’ table.
Elias said, “Apart from the bad crash, I am quite satisfied about this test session and about my lap time. We have mainly tried to fix our front end issues: some changes did not work, but with small adjustments on the front geometry I could improve my feeling
on the bike to get more corner speed.”
Meanwhile for the test session after the race day, he tried to make some changes on the front end which slightly proved to be better. Though he crashed in the session but completed 56 laps on the day.
Elias was trying to push hard and test the changes and its extent to perform better. While he was trying hard, he made a slight mistake and ended in the runoff gravel. Fortunately, the rider was not severely hurt and sustained a minor bruise on his foot.
Elias said, “After lunch I was going for another long run and I probably pushed too hard, crashing heavily in the gravel. The bike hit my right leg and I thought my foot was injured, but the x-ray has ruled that out.”
After crashing out before the break, Elias decided to sit back in the second half of the session. The Spaniard is confident that the little changes were a step forward in progress of the upcoming races in the season.
The LCR Honda rider will enter the Indianapolis Grand Prix with a new stance and hopefully put an end to his three-race probation, which could possibly end his MotoGP career.
