LEARNING SHORTHAND, can you recommend a text book or teaching guide that is easy to follow?

I would like to try to teach myself at home before I resort to paying for a class. I'd really appreciate any recommendations for books/computer programs that have worked for you.

There are various types of shorthand.  If you're just doing it for yourself then it probably doesn't matter but if you want other people to be able to read it then you need to find out what they're using.

I found the Gregg shorthand to be quite easy to use and you should be able to find information about it on the net.
