LET Q School: Amateur Taylor posts bogey-free 66 in second round

Amateur Emily Taylor posted a bogey-free 66 in the second round of Lalla Aicha Tour School 2013 on Friday, romping into the second spot along with Swedish Camilla Lennarth.
Taylor started the tournament in style as she posted a 69 in the first round at the prestigious Amelkis Golf Club, Morocco, on Thursday. She was standing at the 13th position at
the end of the first round.
But posting a 66 on Friday gave the young gun much-needed confidence and she is now looking to further boost her position in the next two rounds.
It was a solid performance from Taylor, who is still an amateur, and commentators said she will try to remain in contention despite other players ramping pressure on her.
Starting her round on the back nine, the amateur golfer shot a birdie on the 11th. She inched forward cautiously as she was aware the greens could prove tricky on some of the holes.
She once again impressed her fans after she shot her second birdie on the difficult par-3 13th.
Coming on strong on the last hole, Taylor reeled off another birdie, strengthening position on the leadeboard.
On the back nine, Taylor kept the pressure intact as she drained two straight birdies on the first and second hole. She shot her last birdie on the difficult par-3 7th.
Sharing her thoughts while speaking to the media at the end of the second round, Taylor said that she was lucky to have started on the back nine, which worked in her favour.
She said that she was aware of the possible challenge from rivals, but she just played a natural game and overcame her nerve right from the start of the day.
“It was very exciting. I hit off the back nine and had four birdies on the back nine. I wasn’t trying to think about my score and it was a bit up and down on the second nine,” said the young
golfer.
Hailing from England, Taylor is one of 2 amateur battling for the LET (Ladies European Tour) membership for the 2013 season. But the match is also featuring plenty of professionals who have
been through tough times in the Q School events.
