LET stars to watch in 2013 season
It is once again time for all the LET (Ladies European Tour) contenders for another big exposure as they impatiently wait for the upcoming 2013 season.
With the season-ending Omega Dubai Ladies Masters having concluded a few days back, players now seem more determined than ever to further cement their reputation in the coming season.
However, like every LET season, the year 2012 also saw both gainers and losers showing the world exactly why they deserve to be what they are.
Some players looked like they played to win and they promised to cap off the season on a promising note right from the start of the year.  Most of them did grab attention in the end.
Key players who remained strong till the end of the season include Spanish Carlota Ciganda, German Caroline Masson and Carly Booth of Scotland.
The winner of the Dubai Masters, Chinese Shanshan Feng, stands taller than most of the LET contenders.
Since Feng has played only a few tournaments on the LET and is known more for her status on the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association), her rivals deserve analysis more than she does.
Ciganda has clearly shown her rivals that she is going to be the one to steer clear of when the new season finally gets underway in 2013.
Having picked up two prestigious accolades—ISPS Handa Order of Merit and Rookie Player of the Year 2012—Ciganda has become the strongest contender on the LET.
More importantly, she has become the first player after English Laura Davies to win these awards in one season. Davies snapped up the same titles back in 1985.
The success did not come by chance, as the Spanish star put together a stellar profile in a short time. She grabbed titles in two tournaments—enough for her to put herself in the limelight.
Moreover, she finished inside the top 10 in another nine events.
Another star performer for the 2012 season is Caroline Masson, who finished tied for the third position at the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters.
But what makes Masson stand out in the pack is finishing second in the ISPS Handa Order of Merit. She eagerly sought to beat the money leader Ciganda, but lucked out as her rival played good
enough to retain her top position in Dubai.
Masson grabbed one victory and recorded another six top-ten finishes in the season.
Scottish Carly Booth is happy that she has been able to record some headline-grabbing performances in the season.
Although the Scottish star joined the LET in 2009, the 2012 season proved a magical year for her professional career. She grabbed titles at the Aberdeen Asset Management Ladies Scottish Open
in May, and Deutsche Bank Ladies Swiss Open in June.
In addition to two wins, Booth recorded two top-10 finishes as well.
