LET titans: Azahara Munoz and Stacey Keating make headway
For some, the lack of famous golfers on the LET (Ladies European Tour) has always created plenty of opportunities for lesser-known contenders to prove their mettle, but the Tour, these days,
appears to be doing much better than most of the critics think.
Although there may not be as much media attention and hype on the events of the LET as compared to the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Tour, as the latter is known for featuring
players who have massive fan following across the globe, the LET has embarked on a new transition on the back of a series of tournaments in a single season, and young faces are joining the line-up in large numbers.
Here's a glance at two LET titans, who are doing well these days, trying to put the Tour in the limelight. Most importantly, the two stars boast a massive fan following on the Tour, something
necessary to boost the image of the sport.
Azahara Munoz: Hailing from Spain, Munoz has crafted a stunning professional profile in her career as the star golfer has done well in some of the events in 2012 season. Although
the star golfer has performed much better on the LPGA than the LET, having won the Sybase Match Play Championship in May 2012, she still likes to associate herself with the LET more than any other Tour as she belongs to the region.
Munoz knows how to attract fans, and she has been proving herself ever since she joined professional golf. She recently spoke her mind with the media, expressing her confidence in her game.
She said she is confident and is trying to further improve her position on the LET.
“When I start playing bad, I had to do so many things on the LPGA, so many interviews and things, I think that kind of got to me because I was tired and I was on the golf course from seven
till seven the whole week doing things,” the Spaniard shared.
Stacey Keating: Australian Stacey Keating has recently come out as a rising star on the LET, as her claim to fame is winning two consecutive titles in the 2012 season. She
first grabbed the fans’ attention at the Tenerife Open de España Femenino in late September this year.
Her success journey did not halt there as the Aussie star racked up another LET title at the prestigious Lacoste Ladies Open De France 2012, building up her profile in pursuit of the top spot
on the Tour.
“I just enjoy it. I practice so I can be contending. As long as I’m contending I’m happy. Anything can happen in a golf tournament like we saw there. We were both disappointed to bogey the
last but you know, that’s golf and I’ll take that,” said Keating at the end of Lacoste Ladies Open De France 2012.
